Warning: Discussion of menstruation to follow. Back out now male readers… I have to share this news with you, my blog friends. It is the BEST change I have made in female hygiene in my entire adult life: THE DIVA CUP.
Things changed for me after birthing a few babies and my period was quite a challenge. I hated my life for a few days each month. Until, I tried the Diva Cup. It is awesome.
Here’s why you should try it:
- It is tidy. No leaks, no mess. Ever. Really, I promise.
- It is fresh. No odors. No trash.
- It is freeing. No granny panties. Wear whatever undergarments you want. Or, wear none. Your period is your secret. 🙂
- It is calm. No stress. No anxiety about how long its been since you went to the potty. You’ve got 12 hrs. before you need to check in with the Diva Cup.
O.K. Ask away. Any questions you have, I will be happy to answer. My book club gave it a try. They all loved it too. It is the best $20 I have spent in a long time. 🙂
PS – It does take a few days to get used to it. But, after one cycle, I NEVER went back…

Can you elaborate on the 12 hour time? Is that a maximum? Minimum? Average? There are times I have a 14+ hour work day, and I cannot fathom doing any ‘maintenance’ on a cup at work. I think this makes me the most squirmish. Otherwise, I think I’d give it a whirl 🙂

I think there is actually a 12 hr. suggested maximum for hygiene purposes. Here’s what I found from their site:
“The cup should be removed, emptied, rinsed or washed and then reinserted at least every 12 hours. Do not wear the cup for 24 hours without emptying.
In situations like traveling for an extensive period of time, it is possible to remove it, empty, simply wipe it, and then reinsert it. It can be thoroughly washed once it is convenient.”

First off, I’ve been following your blog since May 2011 after being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and I love and appreciate your blog! You definitely encourage and inspire me as I maintain my allergen-free lifestyle. BUT, OMG… The Diva Cup post had me dying of laughter, because it was only last week I was trying to convince 4 of my co-workers to buy it. It took my friend a year to convince me to finally try it out and honestly, to all The Crunch Pickle readers out there, this l’il device is a Godsend to all womankind! I’ve been using the Diva Cup for almost 2 years now and I will NEVER go back. The whole cup concept seems pretty gross at first but once you begin using it you will realize how yucky tampons and pads truly are.
Diva Cups to the world! 🙂

I loved reading this and have been intending to comment for sometime now! Women cannot understand how much better it can be until they try it. That is why I even stuck my neck out and posted about it on Facebook – much to my embarrassment as several friends mocked me wholeheartedly. 😉
